A native Houstonian, Anjali Gillette is a 2004 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal.  Her article entitled “Expanding Chief Officers’ Liability and the Promise to Raise Investor Confidence” was published in 2004 following the Enron crisis.

Ms. Gillette has experience in the insurance defense industry, land based and offshore oil and gas fields, as well as with a variety of toxic tort cases. She has assisted with the defense and management of personal injury lawsuits, including the defense team of a multi-party litigation suit relating to a chlorine tank car derailment.  She defends employers against suits brought by employees under the Federal Employer’s Liability Act, Jones Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, and general maritime law.  She is familiar with the legal and administration intricacies of the National Transportation Safety Board, Federal Railroad Administration, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.  She represents premises owners against causes of actions brought by independent contractors and general contractors.  She is also well versed in the rail and trucking industries.  She is admitted to practice in the following jurisdictions: State of Texas, Eastern, Western, Southern and Northern U.S. District Courts of Texas, and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, Texas Exes Alumni Association, and South Asian Bar Association.
